Mr. Smith was retired from the U.S. Army and served in the Green Berets. He had a Doctorate Degree in Economics and taught in Fayetteville. He also had worked as a civilian servant on Fort Bragg. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Emi Smith, and a daughter, Jane Emma Smith.A graveside funeral and interment service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Spring Lake.
